Recap: Oxford Chargers vs. Lewisburg Patriots
The Oxford Chargers lost against the Lewisburg Patriots back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Oxford took a hard 44-30 fall against Lewisburg. While losing is never fun, Oxford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Lewisburg is ranked 36th).
Lewisburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Allie Carroll, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Allison Irby, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Oxford has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Lewisburg, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-6.
Oxford will head out on the road to face off against Horn Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Horn Lake is on a four-game streak of home losses, Oxford a seven-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Lewisburg will take on Hernando at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hernando is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
