Recap: Coolidge Yellowjackets vs. Avalon Eagles
The Coolidge Yellowjackets lost against the Avalon Eagles back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Coolidge took a 43-25 bruising from Avalon.
Avalon found their leader in underclassman Brooklyn De La Garza, who scored 22 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which De La Garza has scored at least a third of Avalon's points. Another player making a difference was Caty Betancourt, who scored ten points.
Coolidge's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for Avalon, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coolidge will face off against Milford at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Avalon, they will head out on the road to take on Trinidad at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Trinidad has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Avalon will arrive with four straight victories.
