Baseball Recap: Orem Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Orem can now relate to. They came up short against the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs on Thursday, falling 11-3.

Orem got a good showing from Tyler Richards, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Richards a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Orem saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Benji Engemann, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Engemann has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Orem's loss dropped their record down to 17-12. As for Crimson Cliffs, they pushed their record up to 15-11 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Mustangs beat Orem by a score of 8-6 on Friday.
