Softball Game Preview: East Forsyth Eagles vs. Central Davidson Spartans

The East Forsyth Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Central Davidson Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Central Davidson took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on East Forsyth, who comes in off a win.

East Forsyth is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 17-5 margin over Mount Tabor on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Irelynn Price was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mariah Davis, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Savannah Hamilton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

East Forsyth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount Tabor only posted an OBP of .261.

Meanwhile, Central Davidson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Ledford.

East Forsyth's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Central Davidson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

East Forsyth came up short against Central Davidson when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 8-5. Can East Forsyth avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
