Preview: Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles vs. Northeastern Knights
Cambridge City Lincoln has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Northeastern Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cambridge City Lincoln will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 401st, while Northeastern is ranked 144th).
After soaring to 66 points the game before, Cambridge City Lincoln were a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They were beaten by Union County 61-22. Cambridge City Lincoln has struggled against Union County recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Northeastern stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They blew past Winchester Community, posting a 54-19 win on the road. The win was nothing new for Northeastern as they're now sitting on four straight.
Northeastern's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adysson Kircher, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Kircher has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addisen Mastriano, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Cambridge City Lincoln's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Northeastern, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Cambridge City Lincoln was taken down by Northeastern 68-23 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cambridge City Lincoln was down 47-16.
