Recap: Monument Valley Cougars vs. Rock Point Cougars
The Monument Valley Cougars lost against the Rock Point Cougars back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Monument Valley was dealt a 77-49 defeat at the hands of Rock Point. Monument Valley has struggled against Rock Point recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Joshua Hicks and Braxton Goodshield certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Hicks scored 18 points, while Goodshield scored 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Melias Cly, who scored nine points.
Monument Valley's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-10. As for Rock Point, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monument Valley will take on Green River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Green River has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 393 points over their last six games. As for Rock Point, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shonto Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Shonto Prep has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Rock Point will arrive with three straight victories.
