Softball Recap: Brookhaven Wins Going Away Against Bogue Chitto

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Jones, Brookhaven was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Bogue Chitto Bobcats. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Journi Hunt and Mia Lee did most of the damage at the plate: Hunt went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Lee scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave Lee a new career-high. Kennedi Dickey was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Brookhaven was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Brookhaven has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. As for Bogue Chitto, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Brookhaven will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Natchez at 6:30 p.m. Considering the Panthers have lost three straight at home and the Bulldogs three straight on the road, this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum. As for Bogue Chitto, they will venture away from home to square off against North Pike at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bobcats are facing the Jaguars at the right time seeing as the Jaguars are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
