Softball Recap: Chatham Has No Trouble Against Altavista

Chatham barely beat Altavista the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cavaliers were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Colonels on Friday. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Colonels recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Corra Liggon made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Kayleigh Harmon was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two triples. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Jasmine Smoot was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The win got Chatham back to even at 10-10. As for Altavista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

As of now, neither Chatham nor Altavista have any future games scheduled.
