Section 11 Division II recap November 19, 2013
Riverhead's Jeremiah Cheatom recorded the longest rushing play in Section 11 Division II this season in his game against Newfield last week. Cheatom ran for 71 yards on the play and finished with 221 on the day as his team defeated the Wolverines.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Riverhead beat Newfield 34-20. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Riverhead's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Blue Waves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cody Smith has thrown for 1,019 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Jaron Greenidge has 39 catches for 391 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Riverhead takes on East Islip. The Blue Waves are in first place, while the Redmen are in third place.
East Islip scaled the state rankings by moving to 106 from 137 this week, the biggest jump in Section 11 Division II. Sal Ciampi's team climbed the ranks as a result of beating Smithtown West 22-16.
