Softball Recap: St. Ignatius College Preparatory Comes Up Short

St. Ignatius College Preparatory extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping their season record down to 9-6 in the process. They came up short against the Mills Vikings, falling 8-1. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gianna Galarza, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

As for Mills, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by seven runs or more this season.

On Mills' side, Kalia Woo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on nine hits. Woo has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jazzy Maske was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Sofia Kwan, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-0 victory against Presentation on the 30th. As for Mills, they have also already played their next game, a 16-0 win against Notre Dame on the 30th.
