Softball Recap: Rye Garnets vs. Eastchester Eagles

Rye extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They lost 12-0 to the Eastchester Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 last Tuesday.

As for Eastchester, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.

For Eastchester's part, Sabrina Cosgrove was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Cosgrove has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Sophia Gutirrez and Taylor Naclerio did most of the damage at the plate: Gutirrez went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Naclerio went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
