Baseball Recap: Northwest Guilford Sets Scoring Season-High Against Dudley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwest Guilford). Everything went their way against the Dudley Panthers on Wednesday as they made off with a 24-4 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Vikings with their most commanding win of the season.

Brady Smith looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Northwest Guilford got a massive performance out of Nic Turner, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave Turner a new career-high. Christian Gentrup also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Northwest Guilford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .683. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Northwest Guilford now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Dudley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.

Looking ahead, Northwest Guilford will square off against Southwest Guilford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (the Vikings have three straight wins, the Cowboys have four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field. As for Dudley, they are taking a road trip to challenge Southern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Storm will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
