Basketball Recap: Charlotte Scherbel's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Murray over Tooele

Murray was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 54-46 to the Tooele Buffaloes. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buffaloes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Murray's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlotte Scherbel, who posted 16 points in addition to five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brinley Forsyth, who had 13 points.

Kennedy Searle continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Tooele, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 11 boards. The match was Searle's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Aiyana Tso also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Murray's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Tooele, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Murray wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 41-38 win against Park City on the 14th. Tooele has also already played their next game, a 54-33 victory against Hillcrest on the 14th.
