Basketball Recap: Maple Valley Comes Up Short

Maple Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Reading Rangers 59-13. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 635th, while the Rangers are ranked 259th).

Ines Sanchez Feito was Maple Valley's leading scorer, having posted eight points.

Reading's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maggie Santure, who posted eight points along with five assists and four steals. Santure continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aleana Monahan, who went 6-for-11 on her way to 12 points and five boards.

Maple Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Reading, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.

Maple Valley has already played their next match, a 44-18 defeat against St. Philip Catholic Central on the 17th. As for Reading, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-36 win against Stockbridge on the 17th.
