Softball Game Preview: Grossmont Foothillers vs. Brawley Wildcats

The Grossmont Foothillers will be taking part in a tournament against the Brawley Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Grossmont is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Eastlake by a score of 9-4 on Wednesday.

Nakhia Lee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits.

On the hitting side, Jenna Ennis was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Brawley had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Mar Vista 7-1 on Tuesday.

Brawley also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Daniella Yescas gave up only one earned run on nine hits. Yescas has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brawley let Isabella Yescas and Roslyn Rubio run wild. Yescas went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Rubio scored a run while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Demi Cornejo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Brawley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-7-1. As for Brawley, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.

Grossmont took their win against Brawley in their previous meeting on Thursday by a conclusive 7-1. Does Grossmont have another victory up their sleeve, or will Brawley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
