Basketball Recap: Satellite Scorpions vs. Merritt Island Mustangs

The Satellite Scorpions waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They managed a 64-59 victory over Merritt Island. Given Satellite's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Mustangs are ranked 514th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Satellite's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Otero, who scored 21 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Knight, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Merritt Island lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Braeden Rouleau, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Hudson Blank, who scored 12 points along with two steals.

Satellite pushed their record up to 17-5 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Merritt Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Satellite will take on the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Merritt Island has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 188 points over their last three contests. As for they, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Titusville at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Titusville is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season.
