The Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rocky Mountain Lutheran has four straight wins, Bishop Machebeuf has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Rocky Mountain Lutheran didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-7), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. In other batting news, Noah Lile and Gavin Borchardt did most of the damage at the plate: Lile went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI, while Borchardt scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two hits gave Lile a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joe Kappel, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Bishop Machebeuf scored first but ultimately less than St. Mary's in their contest on Thursday. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 4-3.
Bishop Machebeuf saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Miles Edgar, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Bishop Machebeuf, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
