Softball Recap: Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Gets the Win

Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 7-9 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Alhambra Moors 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cardinals have posted since March 4th.

As for Alhambra, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-15. Even though they lost, their still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

For Alhambra's part, Melina Baker-Avila was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary will welcome Montebello at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals are facing the Oilers at the right time seeing as the Oilers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Alhambra, they will host Bishop Conaty-Loretto at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
