Softball Game Preview: St. Charles East Fighting Saints vs. Plainfield East Bengals

St. Charles East is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Plainfield East is on a four-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The St. Charles East Fighting Saints will welcome the Plainfield East Bengals at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Charles East will be strutting in after a victory while Plainfield East will be coming in after a loss.

Last Monday, St. Charles East got the win against Taft by a conclusive 7-1.

Makayla Van Dinther spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 16 Ks.

At the plate, Hayden Sujack was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Lexi Majkszak, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

St. Charles East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Taft only posted a batting average of .125.

Meanwhile, Plainfield East started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against West Chicago. They fell 5-1 to the Wildcats on Tuesday.

Plainfield East saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Utrata, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
