Softball Game Preview: Bristol Warriors vs. Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers

The Bristol Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Bristol sitting on 12 straight wins and Marple Newtown on eight.

Last Friday, Bristol earned a 9-4 victory over New Hope-Solebury.

Brianna Slack made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Slack was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Amirah Bell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayleigh Januszka, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Marple Newtown had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Vikings a 2-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Fightin' Tigers have posted since April 23rd.

Bristol's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Marple Newtown, their record now sits at 19-2.

Bristol couldn't quite finish off Marple Newtown when the teams last played back in April and fell 3-1. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
