Baseball Game Preview: Castro Valley Trojans vs. Piedmont Highlanders

For the second straight game, Castro Valley will face off against Piedmont. The Trojans will square off against the Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Castro Valley will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Castro Valley's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Piedmont. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by exactly five runs.

Scott Baldwin tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Owen Seidel was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Mares, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Castro Valley pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Piedmont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.
