Basketball Game Preview: Williams Bulldogs vs. Providence Grove Patriots

The Williams Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Providence Grove Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Williams is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Last Wednesday, Williams came up short against Bartlett Yancey and fell 48-35. The match marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Williams' loss came about despite a quality game from Colby Elliot, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyrian Fuller, who put up seven points.

Meanwhile, Providence Grove ended up a good deal behind Randleman on Friday and lost 79-61. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while the Tigers are ranked 88th).

Williams will have to keep a close watch on Andrew Thomas and Will Dabbs, a pair of players who had a big impact on Providence Grove's prior game. Thomas went 8 of 18 en route to 25 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds, while Dabbs had 25 points along with six boards and five assists. With that strong performance, Thomas is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game.

Williams' defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Providence Grove, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Williams didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Providence Grove in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 67-63 win.
