Basketball Game Preview: South Wasco County Redsides vs. Country Christian Cougars

The South Wasco County Redsides will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Country Christian Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. South Wasco County is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

While South Wasco County didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They enjoyed a cozy 55-39 victory over Powers on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Country Christian came up short against Crane last Saturday and fell 66-56. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Mustangs are ranked seventh).

South Wasco County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Country Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

South Wasco County couldn't quite finish off Country Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 and fell 51-49. Can South Wasco County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
