Softball Recap: Austin Takes a Loss

Austin fell victim to Mankato West and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Scarlets. The Packers have struggled against the Scarlets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Kaydence Schaefer spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and eight unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. The game marked her first with multiple earned runs this season.

At the plate, Austin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Austin's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Mankato West, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Austin will head out to face off against Byron at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Packers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mankato West, they will be playing at home against Century at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
