Soccer Game Preview: Southwest SD vs. Olympian

The Southwest SD Raiders will challenge the Olympian Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southwest SD's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Southwest SD is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Hilltop on Thursday. Southwest SD fell just short of Hilltop by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, Olympian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Hilltop. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 862nd, while the Lancers are ranked 272nd).

Southwest SD's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4-7. As for Olympian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14-2.

Southwest SD was able to grind out a solid victory over Olympian in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 2-0. Will Southwest SD repeat their success, or does Olympian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
