Softball Recap: Highlands Owls vs. Jefferson Mustangs        
        
		
            
 Highlands's found some homefield redemption this week after a tough overtime loss to Edison on Tuesday. The Highlands Owls had just enough and edged the Jefferson Mustangs out  8-6. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Highlands also won the last time the pair played  back in March.
  Alyna Oppelt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   six  hits (she also only allowed one  walk). Oppelt was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Jenesis Rodriguez was  incredible,  going 3-for-3 with three  doubles, a  stolen base,  and two  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Analia Aparicio, who  went 1-for-4 with two  runs, a  triple,  and two  RBI.
 Like Highlands, Jefferson also got a great game from a two-way player:  Danielle Calvario. She  struck out nine batters over  six innings while giving up  three earned  (and five unearned) runs off   eight  hits. Calvario was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-4 with a  triple and two  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Joceline Medelline made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-2 with a  triple and two  RBI.  Mia Torres was another key contributor,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4.
 Even though they lost, Jefferson  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with nine  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highlands only tossed four.
 Highlands' win bumped their record up to 5-7-1. As for Jefferson, they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 4-16.
 Highlands will be playing in front of their home fans against Alamo Heights at 7:15  p.m.  on Tuesday. Alamo Heights is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7  runs per game  this season.
