Basketball Game Preview: Sidwell Friends Quakers vs. DeMatha Stags

The Sidwell Friends Quakers are taking a road trip to take on the DeMatha Stags at 9:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sidwell Friends found their leader in sophomore Jadah Washington, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Washington has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 15 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ian Condon, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, DeMatha took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 74-47 victory over West Catholic. That looming 74-47 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Stags yet this season.

Sidwell Friends better keep an eye on Ashton (Ace) Meeks. He was instrumental in DeMatha's win, shooting 71% from the field to rack up 25 points. The last time Meeks' shooting accuracy was this high was back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Jeffers, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.

DeMatha smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Sidwell Friends' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for DeMatha, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Sidwell Friends has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like DeMatha struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
