Basketball Recap: Damonte Ranch Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

If McQueen wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Damonte Ranch, they should've done a better job of containing Jeriah Macias. The Damonte Ranch Mustangs walked away with a 64-53 victory over the McQueen Lancers on Friday thanks in part to Macias, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in December of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Kin Vong, who posted 11 points. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Despite the loss, McQueen saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aj Spevak went 8 for 11 en route to 20 points and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Spevak. Abram Carpenter was another key player, going 6 of 8 on his way to 12 points and seven boards.

Damonte Ranch has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for McQueen, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.

Damonte Ranch will square off against Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Damonte Ranch is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games. As for McQueen, they will face off against Spanish Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Spanish Springs knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully McQueen likes a good challenge.
