Softball Recap: Francis Parker Takes a Loss

Francis Parker extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-12 in the process. They lost 12-1 to the Escondido Charter Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 back in March.

As for Escondido Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.

For Escondido Charter's part, Lilly Harper made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Harper has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Selena Salas, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Adriana Martino was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Francis Parker will take on Mission Bay at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Escondido Charter, they will challenge Santa Fe Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
