Basketball Recap: Westlake Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Westlake entered their matchup against Buckeye on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Westlake Demons fell just short of the Buckeye Bucks by a score of 63-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Demons have suffered since December 13, 2024.

Westlake's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Turk, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Wallenhorst, who posted 13 points.

Westlake's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3. As for Buckeye, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Westlake and Buckeye should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Westlake (ranked 123rd) will meet North Olmsted (ranked 589th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Buckeye (ranked 273rd) will meet Valley Forge (ranked 611th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
