Baseball Recap: Early Drops Season-High Score on Dublin

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Early). They put the hurt on the Dublin Lions with a sharp 17-7 win on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-6 last Tuesday.

Chris Ivy looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jack Nowell and Jaxson Stockman did most of the damage at the plate: Nowell scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Stockman went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Nowell a new career-high in hits (three). Brayden Moya also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Early always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Early and bumps their season record up to 6-13. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Dublin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Early wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-2 defeat against Millsap on the 15th. As for Dublin, they have also already played their next contest, a 15-11 loss against Tolar on the 15th.
