Basketball Recap: Amani Gipson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Brooke Point

Riverbend won the last time they faced Brooke Point and things went their way on Thursday too. The Riverbend Bears skirted past the Brooke Point Black Hawks 67-65. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by exactly two points.

Riverbend's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amani Gipson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Gipson's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nate Tyler, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 18 points and seven assists.

Riverbend smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.

Riverbend's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Brooke Point, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-8.

Riverbend will head out on the road to square off against Massaponax at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Brooke Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
