Basketball Game Preview: Immaculata Spartans vs. South Plainfield Tigers

The Immaculata Spartans will take on the South Plainfield Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Immaculata is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Montgomery just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Thursday. They received a blow as they fell 60-45 to the Cougars.

Meanwhile, South Plainfield came up short against East Brunswick on Thursday and fell 62-55. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Bears are ranked 308th).

South Plainfield's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Immaculata, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4.

Immaculata beat South Plainfield 58-50 when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Will Immaculata repeat their success, or does South Plainfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
