Softball Recap: Beardstown Drops Season-High Score on Astoria/VIT

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Beardstown). They put the hurt on the Astoria/VIT Rebels with a sharp 15-1 win on Wednesday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Khloe Kearns made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Bella Palmer was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-3. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Vanessa Nu?ez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The win got Beardstown back to even at 6-6. As for Astoria/VIT, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beardstown will take on Barry Western at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Astoria/VIT, they will head out to face off against Augusta Southeastern at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
