Basketball Recap: Emilee Bacon and Makenna Chamberlain Secure Win for Sacred Heart Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cardinal O'Hara, Sacred Heart Academy was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 57-32 margin over the Hamburg Bulldogs. The Sharks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 25 points or more this season.

Sacred Heart Academy was led to victory by Makenna Chamberlain and Emilee Bacon. Chamberlain went 5 for 9 on her way to 19 points and seven rebounds, while Bacon dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Those 19 points gave Chamberlain a new career-high. Olivia Mistretta was another key player, putting up four points and five assists.

Sacred Heart Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Sacred Heart Academy moved to 6-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Hamburg, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart Academy will welcome North Tonawanda at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hamburg, they will face off against Amherst Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
