Football Recap: Hobgood Charter Comes Up Short

Hobgood Charter and Northside - Pinetown squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Hobgood Charter had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Panthers and fell 48-7. Having soared to a lofty 44 points in the game before, the Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.

Despite the loss, Hobgood Charter saw an underclassman step up: freshman Armanti Alston rushed for 70 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, and also picked up 41 receiving yards.

Sincere Columbus produced another solid effort rushing for 152 yards and four scores on only 12 carries for Northside - Pinetown. Columbus is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last six games he's played. Malachi Moore was another key back, rushing for 114 yards and one TD on only five carries.

Hobgood Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Northside - Pinetown, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Hobgood Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northside - Pinetown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bear Grass Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Panthers 10.9, the Bears 12.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
