Basketball Recap: Sydney Cutler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fairbanks over West Jefferson

Fairbanks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Jefferson Roughriders. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Roughriders earlier this season, when they won 60-54.

Fairbanks' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sydney Cutler, who posted 11 points and six boards. Claire Meihls was another key player, going 6 of 15 en route to 18 points.

Fairbanks' defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for West Jefferson, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
