Recap: Rampart Rams vs. Liberty Lancers

Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 20 to 12 on the offensive boards, a fact the Rampart Rams proved on Friday. They came out on top against Liberty by a score of 51-42. For Rampart, this counts as revenge for the 67-60 loss Liberty walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Myles Chavarria had an outrageously good game as he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Adeel Johnson el, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Isaiah Melecio, who's played more minutes than anyone else on the Rams squad sat out for Friday's matchup. With Melecio sitting this one out, Bobby Woolfolk got some extra time on the court (16 vs. his season average of 7.93).

When it comes to explaining why Liberty lost, one person who can't be blamed is London Praytor. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gavyn Franz, who scored nine points along with two steals.

Rampart pushed their record up to 8-13 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Liberty, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.

Rampart will head out on the road to take on Pine Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Creek will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Rampart surely won't give up without a fight. As for Liberty, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Fountain-Fort Carson at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Liberty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
