Softball Game Preview: Molalla Indians vs. Madras White Buffaloes

For the second straight game, Molalla will face off against Madras. The Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the White Buffaloes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Molalla is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Molalla lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Madras, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. The Indians were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the White Buffaloes on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Indians as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Brenna Jackson was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Molalla got a massive performance out of Tatelin Grossnickle, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that Grossnickle has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Madison Shultz, who went 2-for-4 with four runs and two RBI.

Molalla kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Molalla's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-7. As for Madras, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
