Recap: Mountainair Mustangs vs. Ruidoso Warriors

On Thursday, Mountainair had to suffer through a rough 58-29 loss at the hands of Ruidoso. While losing is never fun, Mountainair can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Ruidoso is ranked 40th).

Logan Sandoval continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ruidoso, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Sandoval's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Patrick Kimbrell was another key contributor, scoring five points along with ten rebounds.

Mountainair's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Ruidoso, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Mountainair will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Quemado at 4:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Ruidoso's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hagerman at 7:15 p.m. on December 22nd. Hagerman knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Ruidoso likes a good challenge.
