Basketball Recap: Overland Comes Up Short

Overland fought the good fight in their overtime match against Eaglecrest on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eaglecrest Raptors by a score of 62-59. The Trailblazers have struggled against the Raptors recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Defeat or not, Overland got some senior leadership from Siraaj Ali and Dontae Graham. Ali posted 20 points, while Graham dropped a double-double with ten points and 16 boards. Graham is becoming a predictor of Overland's success: when he posts at least ten rebounds the team is 2-1 (and 7-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Lawrence Amedor, who put up six points.

Garrett Barger was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 19 boards for Eaglecrest. Lucas Kalimba was another key player, on his way to 13 points.

Overland's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Eaglecrest, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-2.

Overland has already played their next game, a 78-64 victory against Grandview on the 22nd. As for Eaglecrest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-52 win against Smoky Hill on the 22nd.
