Softball Recap: Millis Has No Trouble Against Medfield

Millis hadn't done well against Medfield recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Mohawks were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Warriors. The Mohawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mia Vasta was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Vasta was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. Those runs were her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emilia Leach, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Ingraham, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Millis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

With the victory, Millis broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3. As for Medfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Millis will face off against Medway at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Medfield, they will take on Attleboro at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
