Softball Recap: Ocoee Wins Going Away Against Jones

While Ocoee put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Jones. The Ocoee Knights blew past the Jones Fightin' Tigers 18-0. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Fightin' Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Jadore Thompson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Thompson was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, Jayda Solano and Reese Guido did most of the damage at the plate: Solano scored three runs while going 1-for-2, while Guido scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave Guido a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shyanne Marble, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Ocoee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Ocoee's record is now 3-1. As for Jones, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Ocoee will be playing in front of their home fans against Foundation Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ocoee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14 runs per game this season. As for Jones, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Gateway at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
