Basketball Preview: Salisbury Christian vs. Calvary Christian Academy
Salisbury Christian is on a six-game streak of home losses, the a nine-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Salisbury Christian will take on Calvary Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Thursday, Salisbury Christian came up short against the Falcons and fell 62-53. While losing is never fun, Salisbury Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Falcons are ranked 27th).
Meanwhile, Calvary Christian Academy lost to the Patriots at home by a decisive 51-37 margin on Friday.
Despite the defeat, Calvary Christian Academy had strong showings from Sean Sensenig (HS), who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Kyle Parks, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sensenig (HS) has scored all season.
Salisbury Christian has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-15.
Salisbury Christian ended up a good deal behind the in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, losing 48-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Calvary Christian Academy's JR Gillespie (HS), who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Now that Salisbury Christian knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
