Softball Recap: West Trojans vs. Robinson Rockets
After flying high against Dawson last Tuesday, West came back down to earth. The West Trojans lost 12-2 to the Robinson Rockets on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Rockets: they've now lost four in a row.
West saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Mayhue, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Kyla Shoppach also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
West's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10-1. As for Robinson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West will welcome La Vega at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. La Vega has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.17 runs per game on average), something West will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Robinson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Belton at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Robinson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
