League recap: Taft's Gee delivers best pitching performance from past week

South Sequoia league recap: 3/8/13

Taft's Steven Gee was the best pitcher in South Sequoia this week. He struck out ten batters this week.

Top honors in the league this week go to Chavez, which finished with three wins overall, good for best in the league. The Titans beat Arvin 14-2 and Highland 17-1.

The Wildcats' pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only eight hits and two walks, both of which led the league.

There were ten hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. The group was paced by Vaughn Richardson, who collected negative two hits in negative one at bat for a 2.000 average.

George Medrano's six RBIs this week were tops in the league. He now stands at ten RBIs on the season, which puts him first in the league.



David Gil drove in five runners on Friday in the Titans' 14-2 victory over the Bears. He went 3-for-3 and scored one run.

Gee led Independence to a win on February 27, as he notched ten strikeouts to beat Taft, 5-1. Over his five innings pitched he allowed four runs on six hits.
