Basketball Recap: Amplus Academy Comes Up Short

Amplus Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-9. They lost 38-12 to the Escalante Moquis. The Archers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Moquis from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

As for Escalante, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Escalante to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taylie Carlisle, who posted five points and five steals. Those five steals gave Carlisle a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylee Frei, who put up ten points.

Amplus Academy and Escalante will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Archers see the court they'll take on Moapa Valley at 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2026. As for Escalante, their break will end when they face Panguitch at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2026.
