Baseball Recap: Port Jervis Comes Up Short

Port Jervis lost against Goshen Central back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Raiders took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gladiators. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cole Corcoran was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Joseph Olenick was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Port Jervis' defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Goshen Central, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Jervis will face off against Nanuet at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Golden Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Goshen Central, they will take on Washingtonville at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
