Softball Recap: Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy Takes a Loss

Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-7 to make it seven. They came up short against the Queen's Grant Stallions, falling 10-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stallions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 back in March.

Cecelia ?CC? Aurelio was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

As for Queen's Grant, they moved to 14-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Considering they have won 12 games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Queen's Grant's side, Addi Benton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on zero hits and racked up 15 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Melissa Detweiler, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March. Alyssa Steele was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Queen's Grant, they will welcome Sugar Creek Charter at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21 runs per game on average), something the Stallions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
