Basketball Recap: West Comes Up Short

West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 29th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Chanute Blue Comets 55-26. The Pioneers lost against the Blue Comets in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 2-0 score last time.

West's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Chanute, their win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-9.

West will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Southeast at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th. West is facing Southeast at the right time seeing as Southeast is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Chanute, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 0-0 draw against Eisenhower on the 25th.
